3rd Grade Black Defeats South Tulsa

The Golden Eagles 3rd Grade team started off their season with a 27 to 0 victory against South Tulsa Black Raiders at the Metro Christian stadium in Tulsa. The young Eagles managed to score 4 touchdowns, 3 extra points, and run up a total of 240 yards of offense against a solid defensive line of the Raiders. Defense excelled the entire game by shutting out Tulsa and allowing only 10 total yards of offense.

The 3rd grade Golden Eagles scored on their first possession of the game on a 65 yard kick-off return from quarterback Braxton Noble.  Tailback Ty Smith scored next on a 21 yard sweep in the second quarter.  Noble scored twice in the second half on a 47 and 49 yard QB bootleg.  Noble was credited with 2 extra point runs.  Noble and Smith connected on a 3 yard extra point pass reception in the third quarter.  Noble had 98 yards on 5 plays, Smith had 56 yards on 8 plays, Fullbacks Cameron Mayberry and Matthew Albright combined for 21 yards on 6 plays.

Defensively the Eagles contained the Raiders offensive all morning.  Linebacker Cameron Mayberry led the squad with 6 tackles; Noble with 3 tackles, Dontae Redmond-Gray and Brandon Prather each had 2 tackles; Matthew Albright and Dayton Campbell had 1 tackle and 1 assist each; and Emily Knudson had 1 assist.  Redmond-Gray, Albright, and Mayberry each were credited with fumble recoveries. 

Head Coach Bill Porter said after the game:   “We performed very well for a first outing.  We ran to the ball well on defense and we were able to move the ball on offense.  Our special teams came through with some big plays.  Over the next two weeks we will be putting in more of our offense and start to come together as a team.  This was the first tackle football game for about half of our kids and all of us coaches were very proud of their effort.”

The 3rd grade team will play their next game on September 10 in Stillwater against Broken Arrow Gold. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM.

Stillwater 3rd Grade Black

The Golden Eagle Third Grade team won their second game of the season by shutting out Broken Arrow Gold 30 to 0. The young team scored 5 touchdowns on the day while blanking their opponents for the second game in a row.

Offensively the Eagles raked up a total of 278 yards of power running and good downhill blocking. Fullback Cameron Mayberry ran the opening kick-off return 60 yards to hit pay dirt on the first play of the game to take the lead 6 – 0. Mayberry scored 2 other touchdowns of 55 and 30 yard runs. Tailback Ty Smith scored 2 touchdowns of 9 and 30 yard runs. Mayberry finished with 163 yards on 7 carries and Smith with 70 yards on 9 carries. Offensive Lineman for the Eagles were: Jace Habiger, Charles Citizen, Brandon Berry, Andrew Warrior, Jacob Henderson, Andrew Reed, Derek Hallaway, and Trenton Day.

Defensively the Eagles saw a descent Broken Arrow offense , but Stillwater managed to shut them down. The Tigers ran for 46 yards of total offensive in the first half, but the Eagles defense dominated in the second half by holding them to negative yardage. Defensive Lineman Matthew Albright had 3 tackles & 3 assists; Linebackers Braxton Noble and Cameron Mayberry with 5 tackles each, Matthew Jones with 2 tackles and 3 assist; Ty Smith with 2 tackles and 2 assist; Emily Knudson with 3 tackles and 1 assist; Brandon Berry with 3 tackles, , Marlon McDonald with 2 tackles and 1 assist; Dayton Campbell and Dantae Redmond-Gray with 1 tackle and 1 assist each; Jace Habiger, Brandon Prather, and Trenton Day all had 1 tackle each. Mayberry was credited with 2 fumble recoveries and Smith with a pass interception.

The Stillwater Third Grade team will put their perfect season to the test again next week when they host the Sapulpa Chieftians. Game time is noon.

Stillwater 3rd Grade Black

The Golden Eagle Third graders continue to be impressive with another shut-out win over Sapulpa by a score of 34 – 0. The young Eagles dominated the entire game on both sides of the ball. Stillwater defense was simply outstanding by swarming the Chiefs with constant Golden Eagle pressure.

The Eagles scored 5 touchdowns on outstanding blocking from the offensive line and excellent running. Tailback Ty Smith scored 3 touchdowns in the game on 33, 28 and 4 yard runs. Fullback Cameron Mayberry scored 2 touchdowns on 47 and 41 yard runs and 2 extra point runs. Quarterback Braxton Noble scored 2, 3-yard extra point runs. Mayberry finished with 113 yards on 7 carries and 1-26 yard kick-off return. Smith with 114 yards on 8 carries, and Noble with 25 yards on 8 carries. Eagles finished with a total of 278 yards of total offense.

The Stillwater defensive effort was the best of the year thus far by allowing Sapulpa negative 22 yards of offense the entire game. The Eagle defense was led by Matthew Albright with 8 tackles and 3 assist: Marlon McDonald with 5 tackles and 3 assist; Cameron Mayberry with 5 tackles and 2 assist; Braxton Noble with 3 tackles and 1 assist; Brandon Prather with 4 tackles; Dayton Campbell and Jace Habiger with 1 tackle and 1 assist each; Dontae Redmond-Gray and Matthew Jones each with 2 assist. 

Head Coach Bill Porter comments that "I was pleased with the total effort on offense, defense, and special teams. I was especially pleased with the way Marlon McDonald stepped up and took over the center position forthe injured Andrew Warrior."

The Golden Eagles Third grade team will travel to Bixby next week to take on Bixby Red, kick-off is set for 10 A.M.

3rd Grade Black Defeated by Bixby Red

In a battle of two undefeated teams, the Third Grade Golden Eagles lost their first game of the season to Bixby Red by a score of 32 to 6. With a quarterback /linebacker out with a stomach virus and a nosegaurd not making weight, the Eagles faced a tough battle with a very eager and hungry Bixby team. 


Quarterback Matthew Jones was taking snaps under center in his first start of the season. Eagle team's offense never came together until the second half when Fullback Cameron Mayberry found a huge hole and went 51 yards to fall short of the goal line by 2 yards. The next offensive play saw Mayberry running up the middle for a 2 yard Touchdown run. Offensively the Eagles struggled to gain yardage all morning. Mayberry finished with 58 yards on 10 plays,  Jones had a 12 yard Kick-off return in the second half. 


Eagle Defense was lead by Linebacker Cameron Mayberry with 5 tackles and 3 assist; Marlon McDonald and Matthew Jones with 2 tackles and 1 assist: Brandon Prather with 2 tackles; Ty Smith with 1 tackle and 2 assists; Charles Citizen with 2 tackles; Matthew Albright with 2 tackles; Emily Knudson with 1 tackles and 1 assist; and Brandon Berry with 1 tackle. Ty Smith had a fumble recovery.


The Third grade Golden Eagles will regroup and host the Jenks Maroon Trojans next Saturday at 1:30.

3rd Grade Black Defeats Jenks Maroon

The Third Grade Golden Eagles won their fourth game of the season by defeating a good Jenks Maroon team by a score of 19 to 6. The Eagles offense worked hard to gain a total of 207 yards of power running football on 23 total plays.

The Stillwater offensive lineman won the battle at the line of scrimmage to score three touchdowns on the day. Fullback Cameron Mayberry had two touchdown runs from 2 and 46 yards out in the first half. In the third quarter, Quarterback Braxton Noble had a 19 yard touchdown run and tailback Ty Smith had a 3 yard extra point conversion run. Late in the fourth quarter, Brandon Prather ran for 46 yards on a Kick-off return to fall short of the goal by 10 yards. Mayberry finished with 118 yards on 9 runs, Smith with 75 yards on 12 runs, Noble with 14 yards on 2 runs. Offensive lineman include: Charles Citizen, Brandon Berry, Marlon McDonald, Jacob Henderson, Andrew Reed, Jacob Bracken-Leach, Jace Habiger, Brandon Prather, Trenton Day, Derek Hallaway. 

The Golden Eagle defense managed to shut down good power running football from Jenks most of the game. The Eagles defense held the Trojans to 89 yard on 23 plays. Fullback Cameron Mayberry had 5 tackles and 4 assist; Braxton Noble had 5 tackles; Ty Smith had 4 tackles and 2 assists; Jace Habiger had 3 tackles and 4 assists; Marlon McDonald had 3 tackles and 3 assists; Brandon Prather had 2 tackles and 2 assists; Dayton Campbell had 1 tackle and 3 assists; Dontae Redmond-Gray and Matthew Albright had 2 tackles each; Brandon Berry, Matthew Jones, and Jacob Bracken-Leach had 1 tackle each. 

The third grade Golden Eagles will travel to Berryhill next Saturday for a 2:00 kickoff.
